¡Ánimo, Artistas! (Go artists!) published in La Vanguardia 21/10/2020
En respuesta a la carta de Ana Félez Roldán “El futuro de los artistas” (18/X/2020), quiero decirle que no se desanime, pues los artistas no deberían sentirse para nada inútiles. Yo también soy del sector creativo-humanístico y es verdad que estos tiempos son muy complicados para nosotros, porque puede parecer que cualquier trabajo que no esté relacionado con la lucha contra el coronavirus o el crecimiento económico directo no esté aportando.
Pero ahora, más que nunca, es importante no dejar de lado ni
la cultura ni la creatividad. Es fundamental que hayan personas que sigan
luchando por la expresión, la reflexión, la reivindicación y el diálogo, y qué
mejor manera de hacerlo que a través de la cultura. Justo usted, por medio del
teatro, podrá reivindicar y expresar muchos temas importantes que no solo
reflejan la situación actual y ayudan a ordenar el caos sino que también pueden
entretener y elevar los ánimos de las personas.
Así que tenga paciencia, porque por supuesto que los
artistas también tienen un lugar en esta crisis. De hecho, os necesitamos.

In response
to the letter by Ana Feléz Roldán “The future of the artists” (18/X/2020) I
want to say to her that she should not lose motivation, because artists should
not feel at all useless. I am also from the creative & humanities field and
it is true that these times are complicated for us, because it can seem as
though any type of job that is not related with the fight against Coronavirus
or direct economic growth is not a proper contribution.
But now,
more than ever, it is important not to abandon culture or creativity. It is
fundamental to have people who continue fighting for expression, reflection,
revindication and dialogue, and what better way to do this than through
culture. Specifically you, through theatre, can revendicate and express a lot
of important topics that not only reflect the current situation and help to
organize this chaos, but could also entertain and brighten peoples’ moods.
So, have patience, because of course artists have a place in this crisis. In fact, we need you.
